The last week's hard work has finally converged into the actual workshop beginning today. Philip and I were facilitator pair. Our group had students and counsellors, and a teacher, all of whom were very much on the same page as us in understanding the absolute necessity for development of junior youth through programs like this. The sharing within the group allowed the counsellors to appreciate the needs of today's youth and junior youth. I fully expect huge positive changes to be made in the coming months and years in the education system.
We just had a two and a half hour consultation including reviewing the evaluations from the participants. They all loved it and can't wait to contribute in spreading its concepts to the whole island and the rest of the Caribbean. Students, teachers, and counsellors want to bring the parents into the process too! This overwhelming interest leads us to put extra pressure on ourselves, which may be why out consultation is so drawn out.
Consultation is a wonderful thing, but it is by no means easy. Our various consultation sessions force us to grow in patience and flexibility, not to mention fatigue :-).
