Thursday, September 08, 2005 Make a New Post

Wow. We thought this would be a workshop for just 3 schools and 80 participants. Today 100 people from like 7 schools - public, private, St. Kitts, Nevis - have shown up. A bunch of people from high up in the government are interested. The press, maybe including a camera crew, should be there tomorrow. All the participants are excited about spreading this program all over the island in many ways. Hopefully this will keep Cristina and me really busy for the next year. I hope L.D. what is happening with him for the next year; I need to talk to him. He should come to St. Kitts first because Philip is here for another three weeks anyway. We need the help here to facilitate the growth of the Virtues Project and the junior youth empowerment course.

Since there was some miscommunication with the schools, 13- and 14-year-olds came to the training while only students 15 and older may be trained as animators. So Michael, Cristina, and I had to act as animators for the 31 junior youth. It was a bit of a struggle, but we're all learning a lot. That's what the Universal House of Justice says to do: make mistakes and learn from them. Lol, I don't remember reading the source myself. Please comment if you know it.

In our afternoon consultation, we found out that a day or two ago Darlene had emailed the Bahá'í World Centre to request prayers for the success of our project. This morning, the Universal House of Justice's Department of the Secretariat responded that the members of the House of Justice would be praying in the Shrines for the confirmation of the participants efforts in the days, months, and years to come! Consultation was much more pleasant tonight. The Noble Youth Alliance, as we're calling ourselves, is becoming a tight-knit group. Even though most of them will be leaving within a week or two, I'm looking forward to this being an amazing year!
